This may seem like an odd choice considering that I've said this blog is going to be about the arts and 'culture' in its many manifestations and the general 'urbaneness' of London life... but I just love, love, love Kew Gardens! There I've said it... Going to Kew for the day feels like a mini holiday and whenever my mind feels like it's about to blow up in a hundred million that's where I head. Of course, there's the magnificence of the over 150 year old Palm House with its myriad of exotic plants and stunning architecture . But I think what I really love is that you can always discover something new and find inspiration, at least that's how it is for me.
What is also great is that Kew is involved in numerous research and conservation projects, for example the Millenium Seed bank which aims to collect and preserve 25 % of the world plant species by the year 2020. So it is so much more than just a 'pretty park' with old trees and exotic plants!
